About our apprenticeships

This is a four year Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship which begins at level 2. You will develop electrical, mechanical and electronics skills during your first two years in programme and then specialise in either mechanical or electrical in years 3 and 4.

Diamond provides a range of work placements that will give you the opportunity to work in different areas of the synchrotron, this ensures you get the on the job learning and experience you need during your apprenticeship.

• Assemble and test bespoke experimental equipment
• Machine & build parts
• Practical technical support for visiting Scientists
• Problem-solve and troubleshoot
• Routine maintenance tasks
• Work with Engineering on designs of new equipment
