Diamond has a first class record of delivering complex engineering and construction projects that create facilities that further the exploration of science. The next stage of our evolution will deliver the Diamond-II programme which is funded by the UK government through UKRI and the Wellcome Trust. The programme will be led by the Programme Director and the programme components will be managed and delivered under the existing arrangements for Project Management and in consultation with best practice.
The programme comprises four major elements: construction of the upgraded Machine; upgrades to the Beamlines; Buildings and Infrastructure; Software and Computing. Each element will be under the control of project managers and project boards reporting to the Programme Board and Programme Director. The project is managed in five pillars of work.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
