The construction of Diamond-II will require substantial additional space for storage and assembly of components. This will be provided by a mixture of a new on-site permanent building, the Diamond Extension Building (DEB) for girder assembly and temporary on-site storage. The DEB will also provide much needed additional office and laboratory space, while the storage space will be re-purposed post Diamond-II installation to allow various facilities currently located in the synchrotron building and blocking future development to be relocated.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
