Diamond is pleased to announce that the Biological Cryo-Imaging (BCI) User Meeting for 2024, is again being jointly held with CCP-EM's Spring Symposium at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. The event is open to researchers from academia and industry but everyone with an interest in Bio-Imaging is encouraged to attend.
The BCI User meeting is an opportunity for current and potential future users of eBIC (the UKs national facility for Cryo-Electron Microscopy) and B24, Diamond's soft X-ray cryo-tomography beamline to get the latest news on what's new and have the opportunity to hear about the science carried out by our users and meet our scientific staff.
This year there are three keynote speakers as well as talks form our users. The event starts at 11:00am with three specialised parallel sessions covering correlative microscopy, soft x-ray tomography and live data processing for CryoEm:
- Visualising structures in cells: latest in correlative microscopy. Session host(s): Parijat Majumder & James Gilchrist (eBIC, DLS), Itziar Serna Martin (Thermo Fisher Scientific)
- Soft X-ray tomography applicability and accessibility. Session host(s): Archana Jadhav (B24, DLS)
- Automated live processing for SPA and cryoET at eBIC. Session host(s): Daniel Hatton & Stephen Riggs (eBIC, DLS)
These focused satellite sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to delve deeper into specific areas of interest and engage with experts in the field. They will be followed by lunch for all attendees and then the main User Meeting that will take up the rest of the afternoon. The meeting will conclude with a drinks/ buffet reception followed by an evening of entertainment.
The tenth anniversary CCP-EM Spring Symposium will follow on from the BCI User Meeting. The symposium will take place in Nottingham, on 1st and 2nd May 2024 and provides a forum to highlight state of the art developments in computational cryo-EM and related themes as well as showcasing outstanding recent biological applications.
Topics will include:
- instrument technology
- sample preparation
- image processing
- single particle reconstruction
- tomography
- model building
The joint event promotes an inclusive, friendly atmosphere welcoming both current and new members to the community.
