Given the rapid spread of COVID-19 Diamond Light Source wishes to minimise travel and the number of people on site, and we have in the first instance taken the decision to suspend user operations from our facilities until 31st May. A further extension of that period might become necessary, and we will keep users informed during the coming weeks.
However, it is still possible to run sessions remotely, but only with work directly relevant to COVID-19, either through an already approved BAG or through the rapid access application on https://www.diamond.ac.uk/Users.html. Please refer to the Rapid Access Call for Proposals: SARS-CoV-2 section.
The management team at Diamond appreciates the pressure the call deadline has been putting on our user community at this time of uncertainty. Diamond has decided to postpose the AP28 call for proposals (the Rapid Access call for remote work directly relevant to the COVID-19 outbreak is still open). We are unable to issue a new deadline at this stage until the situation becomes clearer, but any proposals already submitted will be held until the call is released.
