Support from Diamond users and the wider research community for our Diamond-II Flagship Beamline Projects has been overwhelming, with over 1,200 statements submitted to date. This is a huge response but with 14,000 users at Diamond, we urge you to make this a priority.
Our electronic Statements of Support form will close at 23:59 (GMT) tonight, Tuesday 24 November 2020. This is a last call to those of you who have yet to submit your support and we encourage you to do so via the link below and share with your colleagues:
Prof Laurent Chapon, Physical Sciences Director and Diamond-II Programme Director, said:
Anyone is welcome to submit a statement of support, from all career levels and scientific disciplines. This is your opportunity to influence the new, rebuilt or upgraded beamlines at Diamond and ensure your science is reflected as part of this exciting Diamond-II upgrade.
For each flagship project, user engagement is vital, and the statements you provide will be included in the final business cases put forward to our advisory committees in December. The selected projects will then proceed to the conceptual and technical design review phases as a continued collaboration between the User Working Groups and Diamond staff, followed by the project delivery (first user dates 2027-2030).
