Logistics

Complete your dewar dispatch form for storage at Diamond or return of your dewars. You can use our shipping agents for dewar return.

Diamond pays for sample shipping (2 dewars per shift) but for UK users only if you use our shipping agents via our webpages. No reimbursement of UK shipping will be made after August 2014 for shipping you arrange yourself.

It is a requirement that an experimental report is submitted through UAS. Please submit this promptly upon return to your home establishment. Detailed and constructive feedback about your visit to B24/Diamond Light Source is also required, so please drop feedback about your visit once this is requested.

Data Access

You can access and retrieve your data after your visit from anywhere.

It is also possible to access Diamond's computers remotely. To do so, please follow the instructions.

Data Processing

B24 has an automatic pipeline that reconstructs the aquired tilt-series into tomograms, allowing for quick visualisation of data. As the quality of the automatic reconstructions depends on the samples, several different tracking methods are used to enable automatic processing in a range of scenarios. Once the automatic reconstructions have been aquired, manual reconstruction is recommended to provide publication quality images of key datasets.

For processing/analysing your data, we recommend the free IMOD software for processing tomograms (see GUIDES).

We also recommend ec-CLEM for 2D and 3D image correlation. At the time of writing, Icy requires Java JDK 8 for UNIX systems - a download link is supplied on the Icy download page. Please see our recently published STAR Protocols paper for the registration protocol.

For segmentation, we recommend trying SuRVoS, which is developed at Diamond, an ImageJ plugin, or a part of the IMOD package. We are happy to provide advice with data processing to our users.

Up-to-date general Diamond instructions can be found at after you leave.
