Acceptance Criteria

All proposals are awarded time using eBIC microscopes, based on scientific excellence and are subject to standard Diamond terms and conditions, notably that the work must be published.

It is eBIC's remit to provide a high-resolution data collection service for projects that have already been developed in a user's own facility.

Academic proposals need to include images and evidence that suitable cryo-EM samples have already been produced.

For the review process applicants must follow the Diamond acceptance criteria, to ensure projects are well progressed and investigators bring high quality grids, with good ice and optimised conditions for the sample under investigation:

• Provide images of 2D classes calculated from the cryo-EM sample under investigation.
• In most cases, good 2D classes will produce a 3D reconstruction with secondary structure clearly visible.

eBIC do not offer a grid screening or project development service for academic users.
