Rapid Access

Rapid Access is for users that are not part of a Block Allocation Group (BAG)

  • A small proportion of microscope time is allocated to Rapid Access applicants.
  • Rapid proposals can be submitted at any time.
  • Standard allocation period is 2 days.
  • One proposal awarded per project.
  • An individual Principal Investigator (PI) will be awarded at most 3 Rapid sessions, per 6-month allocation.
  • If you are part of a currently running Block Allocation Group (BAG), it is not possible to apply for Rapid access.

  • UK & International Rapid applications are made via Diamond's User Administration System: UAS.
  • EU Rapid applications are funded through the iNEXT-Discovery project. Applications are made via iNEXT - the applications are peer reviewed by iNEXT for scientific merit and then sent to eBIC for technical assessment, it is therefore essential to follow the Diamond Acceptance criteria.

eBIC encourage researchers to submit proposals via a Block Allocation Group if at all possible.
