Travel & Subsistence

eBIC microscope time & facility use is free of charge to researchers (except for commercial users & those requiring guaranteed access).

UK researchers
UK users are fully funded by Diamond, including travel, accommodation & subsistence, (normally 1-2 people per visit, with a maximum of 3 people per visit).

European researchers
Funding is available for EU users through the iNEXT-Discovery project, covering: flight costs for up to 3 people (or 2 people and a dewar), accommodation & subsistence. When applying via iNEXT select the Diamond EM platform.

International researchers
Users from outside the UK & EU typically finance their own travel, accommodation & subsistence. However, there is no cost for the use of eBIC microscopes & facilities, and Diamond are able to assist with making bookings for accommodation.

Accommodation
Diamond will reserve rooms for users at the on-site guest house (located a short walk from the eBIC facility). If the guest house is full, alternative accommodation will be found at a nearby hotel and a taxi shuttle service can be organised where necessary.
