Support Facilities

In addition to the beamline experimental stations, Diamond provides an extensive range of support facilities for Users. Soft Condensed Matter has a series of science preparation laboratories for Users to access while carrying out experiments at Diamond. These include a Biological Sample Preparation Lab (Lab 11), Chemical Sample Preparation Lab (Lab 12) and an Instrumentation Lab (Lab 14). These are all adjacent to the beamlines on the Experimental Hall Floor. Access to the labs is only possible via a completed Lab Risk Assessment Form which can be found through UAS under the 'lab access' section of your ERA.

User Biological Sample Preparation Soft Condenced Matter Village Laboratory (Lab 11)

The User Biological Sample Preparation Lab provides facility for a range of biological science applications. It's equipped with a fume cupboard and a biological safety cabinet as well as a range of equipment suitable for biological studies. The lab is stocked with routine consumables.

User Sample Preparation Soft Condenced Matter Village Laboratory (Lab 12)

The User Chemical Sample Preparation Lab provides facilities for a range of chemistry, environmental and materials science applications. We have a well equipped and stocked lab, which provides two fume hoods and a range of equipment suitable for soft matter studies. The lab is stocked with routine chemicals and consumables.

Soft Condensed Matter Village Instrumentation Laboratory (Lab 14)

The Instrumentation Lab provides users with off line access to instrumentation supported by beamlines within the Soft Condensed Matter Village. 

Access to central chemistry and biology laboratories at Diamond may also be possible by prior arrangement. If you would like to know more, please contact the User Office.
