User Preparation Lab - Biology (Lab 11)

This lab is designed for biological sample preparation. Users wanting to carry out tissue preparation are encouraged to use this lab over Lab 12 which is designed for chemical sample preparation, including biological solution scattering. 

 We provide standard solvents:

• 97% ethanol
• Ethanol absolute
• Acetone
• Methanol
• IPA

The biology sample preparation lab is stocked with basic consumables that would be necessary for most experiments, including:

• Pipette tips
• Stripettes 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml
• Small Eppendorf-style test tubes
• Plastic 30 ml universal screw top bottles
• Mica cover slips and replacement windows
• Microscope slides
• Disposable plastic Petri dishes
• 35mm slide housings
• Pasteur pipettes
• Disposable 10A sterile scalpels
• Cling film, foil, parafilm
• Long cotton swabs
• pH indicator paper
• Filter paper
• Eppendorf tubes 0.5 - 2.0 ml
• Falcon tubes 15 ml and 50 ml
• Plastic seal bags
• Disposable stainless steal blades for microtoming
• Anti-static weigh boats - small, medium in large and large in black and white

• RMC Products MT900 cryo-microtome - various stage holders available for sample mounting
• Eppendorf centrifuge 5810 R - rotor A-4-62: max 4x1.1kg, max4000 rpm; inserts 50 ml centrifuge and 15 ml centrifuge tubes

• Grant GD100 water bath

• Sartorius CPA225D cubis semi-micro-balance - max 220g, d = 0.01mg (100g) 0.1 mg (220g)
