While our public open days offer the best access to the synchrotron and are open to all, we recognise that higher education students (university equivalent and above) may be interested in more specific visits. As such it is possible for lecturers or students to arrange more bespoke trips to Diamond.
A standard visit would consist of:
A talk giving a general overview of Diamind and our facility (Approx 45 minutes).
A tour of the facility (Approx 1 hour).
It may be possible to add more tailored aspects to the visit, specifically a short additional talk on a particular beamline by its scientist, this however is dependent on who, or what beamlines are available on the day. If you would like us to cover a particular subject area then please be specific when arranging the visit and the earlier you do so, the more likely it will be that we can help.
Typically we limit the events to between 10 and 30 visitors, although smaller or larger groups can be considered. We can try to work dates to suit you, although the earlier you contact us the more flexible we can be. The events would usually have to be during the daytime on a weekday.
Please note that these events are likely to take place while we are operational, and while we can offer an interesting tour, unlike our large open days, we can't guarantee access to the synchrotron machine itself.
Interest in these events is quite high and we advise contacting us at least 3 months before your proposed visit. To request a visit please fill out a request form and if you have any issues or questions contact our team.
If you have any questions or issues please contact our Public Engagement Manager (amy.griffin@diamond.ac.uk).
