The machine is an assembly of components used to produce, confine and maintain a high energy electron beam in a closed orbit for periods of several hours while the electrons produce synchrotron light for a wide variety of experiments.
This second hutch houses the experimental equipment. Researchers place their sample on a rotating arm, surrounded by detectors, to register the data given by the sample when the beam of light is targetted on it. To find out more please, visit the section on detectors.
